False Love

Posted by Tiffany Bowers on

Have you ever been in love only to find out that it came with strings? Well, yeah....I have too.

Everything in the relationship was so surreal at first. It really felt too good to be true, and honestly this was a feeling I haven't experienced in a longtime. He said and did all the right things at first. Then...BOOM! A monster started to appear.

The abuse was suttle. He played on all of my vulnerabilites. We are dimished in "small" ways, like you don't clean right or cook everyday. You don't acknowledge their hard work, oh...and we're starting to gain a little weight. Does any of this sound familiar?

Slowly your spirit is being dimished by someone who is supposed to love you unconditionally and you find yourself drifting into a hole. Now, you have become accusstomed to the name calling, cheating, and now the occassional slap, punch, and kick. How did we get here?

Was it our past and the tramatizing family dynamics that we grew to learn was normal? Could it be related to our childhood and cries for accecptance with our family, friend, and peers? Whatever the cause, we must end the cycle!

We are loved, but we must recognize the love we seek is the love we've always known. This love is unconditional and unwavering. This love is true and honest and doesn't come with strings or attachments! This love is gentle and comforting. Self-love, is God's love.
