Happy Black History Month!! We are so glad to highlight activist and leaders during the month of February. There's so much to share and so little time. For this reason, we make sure to keep this energy all year long! Join us and add you name to our mailing list to receive your update.

In this moment, we are going to shine light on, "The Six Triple Eight!  These women was the largest group of Black servicewomen to serve overseas during World War II. According to The National WW2 Muesum, there were over 800 Black Women who registered  to serve. There was a total amount of 31 officers and 824 enlisted in personal to be exact. During this time, the world was on edge and one's future was uncertain. Civilians were worried about losing loved ones. Men were recorded as being unfit but still held to the same standard as the women.

The women were tasked to sort and process mail overseas. They used a warehouse turned into storage unit for millions of letters and photos that did not make it to the receiver. They averaged processing about 65,000 per shift. They did all of this hard work but did not receive any of the benefits that others who served received. There was a six months turn around timeframe but "The Six Triple Eight" finished in 3 months. The government tried to find new quality workers but it was very hard.

The Triple Eight stayed battle ready and still trained as normal servicemen despite their job title. They were also sent to inhumane terrtoritires and still able to get the job done. Women were draped in layered clothing to keep warm.Their first acheivement was a tracking system to maintain over 7 million cards while enjoying first class. The women's job was to do the following:

Redirect mail

Investigate the wrong addressed mail ment for the fallen

The U.S military was not welcoming towards these women. The surviving women lived to tell their stories and I am so happy to share it with you. We appreciate the time you spent here with us! Until next time......
